Coach Kaufman Honored as Arlington Coach of the Year!

Longtime Impact Coach and Founder Doug Kaufman was honored by the Better Sports Club of Arlington as "Coach of the Year" among All Sports and all teams in Arlington County for 2021-22. Coach Kaufman has had an enormous Impact on Girls Softball over the last 20 years. He brought elite softball to Arlington, and provided an opportunity for Arlington Girls to play Softball in College, with him Impact and Sage teams becoming National powers, and providing the recruiting support for girls to play the next level. Impact has expanded to 4 teams and brought in strong, diverse coaches and players. As a Coach, Kaufman has won over 400 games, beaten Nationally ranked programs and sent over 20 kids to play in College. But what stands out most about Coach Kaufman is his strong focus on Development, and ability to create a positive Team Environment that gets the most out of his players and grows their passion for the sport.
Also, honored by the Betters Sports Club was Impact Pitcher Abby Kohan as Female Athlete of the Year, and Molly Kaufman as Softball Player of the Year!
Impact National Wins First Responder's Cup 18U Championship!
9/11/21
On the 20th Anniversary of 9/11, Arlington Impact National took home the Championship of the First Responder's Cup! Impact defeated the Tri-State Thunder Gold 5-2 in the Finals, with strong pitching from Abby Kohan and Torrie McNabb. In the Semi-Finals, Impact trailed 4-1 in the 7th, when they rallied with hits by Molly Kaufman, and RBI Singles from Kohan and McNabb. The game went thru 2 innings of ITB before Impact prevailed 6-5 in 9 innings thanks to a 2 run double by Kayla Carr! Impact defeated the Stars National 3-1 in the Quarterfinals behind a bases clearing triple by Carr and strong pitching by McNabb!
Impact National Goes 7-1 at Delaware Grand Slam Showcase!!

Impact national finished 3rd in the Power Bracket at the DE Grand Slam Showcase! Impact 7-1 for the weekend, only losing to eventual Champion Valley Forge Patriots 4-3 in ITB in the Semi-Finals! And our players did great in front of numerous college coaches! Big Home Run Bombs by Kayla Carr, Molly Kaufman and Emily Reagan (who hit 3!!); Carr, Reagan, Kaufman and Haley Greer all hit over .500 for the weekend. Impact outscored their opponents 60-9 with great pitching from Torrie and Abby!
Impact National Goes 5-2 Against National Competition at Team NJ Showcase!

Impact National got off to a strong 4-0 start at Team NJ and finished 4-1 in Pool play - ranking 9th out of 64 Teams entered! Overall, Impact went 5-2 with big Wins over CT Eliminators, Team PA, NJ Outlaws & NJ Infernos. In bracket play, Impact batted around in the 1st inning with clutch RBIs from Molly Kaufman & Kayla Carr. Emily, Abby & Erika also had big weekends at the plate. Torri and Abby were stellar on the mound! And Viggi, Kaitlyn & Clare played strong OF! Impact also had great interest from College Coaches with our 2022's getting multiple offers and going on some campus visits soon!!

Impact National went 5-2 at the prestigious Pennsbury Invitational while playing in the highly competitive 18U "Power Pool"! Abby and Torrie controlled some big bats only allowing 5 runs in 30 innings. Kayla, Livy & Torrie all went yard! And great defense and base running in a total team effort. Impact had over 35 college coaches watch us play with some exciting news coming soon!!

Impact National went 6-0 to win the Potomac River Clash! Abby and Torrie combined to only allow 4 runs in 6 games, getting out of several key jams to seal the victories. Impact outscored their opponents 65-4 in route to the tournament victory. Bats were on fire with big home runs by Clare (2), Haley (2), Emily (2) and Molly! Livy, Macey, Abby, Erika and Torrie also had key RBIs for the Impact. And our slappers Piper and Audrey did a great job setting the table all weekend! In an exciting Semi-Final game vs. the Glory - Knapp, Impact went ahead 2-0 on Emily's homer. In the top of the 6th, Glory had 2nd/3rd, 1 out with the tying run at the plate, when Torrie battled on the mound with an 18 pitch at-bat - finally getting the strike out on a change up, and closing out the game with another K. Exciting weekend!!

Playing up to 18U, Impact National went 5-1 at the Pennsbury Invitational!
Impact went 5-1 with strong pitching and clutch hitting at the Pennsbury Invitational. They finished the week with a solid 7-0 shutout win over the PA Ball Hawks, with Torrie McNabb allowing 0 runs and striking out 4. Key hits by Livy Fried, Haley Greer Emily Reagan and Molly Kaufman sparked the offense. Impact also had wins over Pegasus Gold (5-2), Lehigh Flames 3-2 and Pennsbury Gems 5-2. Piper Tedrow & Abby Kohan led the offensive charge all week. On Thursday, down 1-0 in their last at-bat, Impact scored 3 to pull out the 3-1 victory over TNT Maryland. Impact ends the year with an impressive 61-16-2 Record!!

Impact National went undefeated at the Team New Jersey Showcase to win the 16U Division!
Facing strong National competition, Impact went undefeated at the Team NJ Showcase highlighted by Several strong wins and great pitching from Torrie McNabb. Impact defeated the Glory 16U Willemssen 3-1, with Torrie McNabb pitching out of a based loaded, no-out jam in the 1st inning, allowing only 1 run while striking out 8 batters. Sasa Groome made a great running catch in RF, and Molly Kaufman delivered a clutch 2 out, 2 RBI Single for the win. Impact also defeated Team Virginia Mizuno Harrington, with Sasa breaking a 2-2 tie with a Homer to CF, and Abby Kohan knocking in 2 runs. Impact also had wins over Newtown Rock National & the Rhode Island Thunder Gold, with Livy Fried, Emily Reagan, Kara Bremser & Erika Castellano sparking the offense. Reagan and Piper Tedrow made outstanding defensive plays, Haley Greer was solid behind the plate and delivered several key RBI hits.
Impact National Wins USA Softball Independence 16U Showcase!

Impact went undefeated 5-0-1 to win the USA Independence Showcase in Hagerstown MD!
Impact won 4 bracket elimination games on Sunday behind the strong pitching of Abby Kohan and Torrie McNabb, who combined to yield only 3 runs in 4 games. Defense was stellar with by diving catches by Ryan Shannon, Piper Tedrow and Molly Kaufman.
In the Championship game tied 2-2 vs. the PA Outlaws, Livy Fried Delivered an RBI Triple, followed by a Kohan triple and a Sasa Groome Homer to seal the victory. Haley Greer, Erika Castellano, Groome & Kaufman led the offense - hitting over .400 and Emily Reagan played an excellent SS and added a Home Run. Impact won a Quarterfinal over the Loudoun Inferno 2-1 before breaking out to an 11-0 win over the Heartbreakers in the Semis.
On Saturday, Impact went 2-0-1 to win their Pool.
Impact National Wins 18U Open Crown Trophy NIT!

Impact went 6-0 on the weekend to win the Crown Trophy NIT 18U Gold Championship in Sterling, VA!
Impact trailed 1-0 in the quarterfinals, when Abby delivered a 2 out RBI single to tie the score, then Emily delivered a 2 out, 2 RBI double to the wall in RC, scoring Molly & Torrie. Abby went the distance for the 4-1 win. In the Semis, Impact was down 3-0 in the 1st inning, but responded with an 8 run explosion in the bottom of the 1st, highlighted by Kat & Piper setting the table for RBI hits by Erika, Livy, Emily & Abby. Torrie & Abby combined to pitch the remainder of the 8-4 victory. In the Finals, Impact jumped out to a 3 run lead in the first on hits by Piper & Kat, and RBI hits by Livy & Molly. Abby pitched out of a bases loaded no-out jam, inducing 2 infield pop-ups and a ground out, and Impact went on for a 7-1 Championship Victory!
In Pool play, Impact defeated the Glory-Beach 6-1, with Ryan Shannon driving in 4 runs, including her first Home Run - a 3 run shot to deep CF! Impact then defeated the Xplosion 18U 14-2, scoring 9 runs in their first at bat, with Haley and Kara each having multi-hit, multi-RBI games. Impact capped off pool play with a 3-2 defeat of the Loudon Storm, trailing 2-1 in their last at bat, and scoring the tying run on Piper's slap hit, and then Molly knocking in Livy for the winning run. Torrie also homered in the win, and Sasa turned in some strong defensive plays in Centerfield.
Impact wraps up the Fall season with 4 Tournament Titles and a 34-5 Record! Congrats Ladies!
Impact Goes Undefeated at Team NJ Showcase 10/20/19

Facing some of the toughest competition on the East Coast, Impact swept thru the 16U Bracket of the Team New Jersey Showcase, going 5-0 and only allowing 7 runs in 5 games.
Impact started on Friday with a 2-1 defeat of the Honeychucks. Molly went yard to give the Impact a 2-1 lead in the first. Impact help on to win with some stellar defensive plays by Piper in Left and Sasa in right. And Abby had 10 K's and 0 walk, pitching out of some tough jams. In game 2, Impact defeated a very strong NJ Batbusters team, going up 3-1 with key RBI hits from Erika and Livy. Impact then blew it open with Loooong home runs by Abby and Livy to extend the final to 7-1.
Saturday, Abby shut-out CA USA Athletics 5-0, with Piper & Kara setting the table, and Livy & Sasa driving in the runs.
Impact then faced their toughest challenge, trailing NJ Pride 4-0 in their last at bat. But after a few walks and hits to tie the score at 4, Ryan delivered a rocket 2-strike double to the wall in LF, scoring 3 and sending Impact to a 9-4 victory.
Impact closed out the Showcase with a solid 5-1 victory over the NJ Gators. Kat & Piper each had multiple slap hits and scored on Erika's 2 RBI double, and Sasa capped off the weekend with long HR to right center. Ryan and Piper provided more defensive highlights in the Outfield & Abby Pitched out of 2 bases loaded -1 out jams. Haley threw out 5 runners stealing on the weekend and had several clutch RBIs.

Impact Wins 16UA Gold at Potomac River Clash!
9/15/19
Down 4-2 with 2-out in their last at-bat in the Semi-Finals against the Unity 16U, Impact loaded the bases and then Livy Fried delivered a 2 RBI single to LF, tying the game at 4. Abby then stepped up and delivered a long double to the LF Fence, scoring Sasa Groome & Livy for the 6-4 lead. In the bottom of the 7th, 2 hits by the Unity gave them 2nd/3rd with no out, but Kohan pitched out of the jam to send Impact to the Finals. In the Finals against Hughesville Hustle, tied 6-6 in the 7th, Erika and Molly Kaufman each delivered 2-RBI singles, giving Impact the Championship win, 10-6!
Overall, Impact went 5-1 on the weekend to win back to back titles! Impact had solid wins over VA Stars Trottman (7-3) and Terror 3-0. Kohan and Torrie McNabb were strong on the mound, getting out of several pressure situations. Piper Tedrow, Ryan Shannon played flawless defense in the outfield all weekend. Haley Greer had several clutch hits and hit .400 for the weekend. Erika, Piper, Molly, Abby, Kira Lentz & Livy all hit .400 for the weekend, leading a relentless offensive pursuit!
Impact Wins Free State Open 18UA Championship!

In their debut as a 16U team, Impact Elite went 5-1 to win the MD Free State Open 18U A Championship! Impact defeated the Churchville Lightning 16U in the Finals, avenging their only loss in pool play, winning 9-3 behind the clutch RBI hits from Abby Kohan, Torrie McNabb, Erika Castellano & Haley Greer. Impact recorded back to back shutouts in the first 2 rounds of elimination, beating the Olney Cougars 9-0 and the Loudon Inferno 18B 10-0 behind the strong pitching of Kohan & McNabb. Ryan Shannon delivered multiple clutch hits in the victories and Molly Kaufman & Kara Bremser had key RBIs. Piper Tedrow had a strong weekend at the plate, hitting over .600 and leading the team with 9 runs scored & Kat Lentz had a strong weekend hitting and causing havoc on the basepaths! Greer threw out 3 runners stealing. Impact also benefited from strong defense performances from Castellano at 3rd, and Livy Fried at 2B.
In pool play, down 8-3 in their last at-bat to the 18UA Virginia Legends, Impact rallied for 5 consecutive hits to load the bases and narrow the score to 8-5. Sasa Groome then stepped up to the plate, and after fouling off several pitches, launch a walk-off Grand Slam over the LF Fence for the walk-off 9-8 victory!!! Impact then blanked the Loudon Inferno 18UA team 5-0 behind the shutout pitching of McNabb.
Impact Wins 16U USSSA Virginia State Championship!

Impact 14U went 6-0 to win the USSSA 16U Virginia State Championship in Sterling VA! Torrie and Abby pitched outstanding, only allowing 1 run in 3 elimination games on Sunday. In a tight Championship game, tied at 0-0, Livy singled, Abby bunted her to 2nd, and Sasa delivered a clutch 2 out single to give Impact a 1-0 lead over Tsunami 16U. Impact then exploded for 7 more runs with clutch hits by Livy, Sasa, Kat & Kara to put the game out of reach 8-0. Ryan and Megan made some huge catches in the outfield, and Lindcy and Molly had some big RBI hits during the weekend. Kara and Livy also played solid defense up the middle all weekend. Multiple umpires also completmented the team on their outstanding team play and behavior on and off the field!
Impact Wins 16U Rock 'N Rumble Championship!

Playing up to 16U for the first time, Impact 14U went undefeated (7-0) to win the 16U Rock and Rumble in Columbia, MD! In the Championship game, tied at 4 in the bottom of the 7th, Emily singled to deliver Ryan for the Walk off Win! Abby went 6-0 on the mound for the tourney. Emily & Molly both hit over .500 and drove in 15 runs for the tourney. Kat hit .450 and caught all 4 games Sunday and caused havoc on the basepaths! Livy, Sasa & Kara had key RBI hits in victories over the Churchville Lightning, Havnenwood Revolution & Olney Cougars. Ryan, Megan and Sasa made multiple strong plays in the Outfield. And Impact turned SIX double plays on on the weekend! Great Job Ladies! Amazing teamwork and toughness!!

Impact Players were strong contributors as Freshman to their High School Teams!
Marshall HS: Torrie McNabb & Lindcy Nelson led Marshall to the Liberty District Regional Title and their first ever State Tournament. McNabb pitched 7 consecutive shutouts including the District Tourney and the first 3 rounds of Regionals, with an Epic 11 Inning shutout of McLean HS. Lindcy Nelson provided the Walk off single in the bottom of the 11th to beat McLean!
O'Connell: Emily Reagan & Sasa Groome were both freshman Starters for O'Connell in leading them to the VISAA Division 1 State Title! Emily batted leadoff and started at SS. Sasa was the starting Center/Right Fielder.
Wakefield HS: Abby Kohan & Livy Fried were both starters on Wakefields team. Livy led the team with 6 home runs and 40 RBIs and was named All District. Abby Had a strong season on the mound with 10 Shutouts and 122 strikeouts in 84 innings!
Impact Claims top seed at Memorial Day Madness PA)!

Impact went 7-1 and was the #1 seed out of 48 teams at the 14U Memorial Day Madness in PA. Great pitching and defense allowed only 5 runs in 6 pool games! In elimination, Livy delivered a walk-off line drive single in ITB to give the Impact a 3-2 win over the NJ Pride. Livy, Molly, Emily and Kat all hit .400 and combined to drive in 30 runs on the weekend!

Impact Wins NSA Fall Championships!

Impact 14U Went 6-0 to win the NSA Fall Championships in Richmond, VA. Behind shut-down pitching from Abby Kohan and Torrie McNabb, the Impact yielded only 9 runs in 6 games.
Impact defeated the Williamsburg Starz Gold and Orion Hunter on Saturday to earn a #1 seed. In the Quaterfinals, with the scored tied 2-2 and a runner on 3rd, no out....Kohan went Strike-out/Infield Pop Out/Strike out to get out of the jam. In their Last at-bat Sasa Groome singled, stole 2nd and then scored on Molly Kaufman's walk-off Single for the 3-2 Win! Torrie Mcnabb allowed only 1 run in a 11-1 Semifinal victory while also knocking in 3 RBIs on 2 hits.
Strong hitting weekends by Nelson & McMaster contributed to the offensive output. While Reagan, Kohan, Shannon, Bremser had key RBI hits. Lentz & Fried played strong D in the Wins.
